Book Review, Manuel Castells's "Rupture: the crisis of liberal democracy"

Castells' latest book, "Rupture: The Crisis of Liberal Democracy", is his 32nd book and his first book that has been published in his native language, Spanish. This book was published in 2018 and its translation was published in Iran by Egar publications in 1400. This book is an attempt to understand the political scenario of recent years in some parts of the world, according to the author, this scenario is the gradual collapse of a political model of representation and governance, its main plot, and the breakdown of the relationship between the rulers and the people who are being ruled  is its central proposition. The Rupture also focuses on the lack of trust in political institutions and governments. This book, which has only 146 pages, unlike the usually voluminous works of Castells, can be considered a kind of long footnote to his previous works.
This book is one of the few cases where Castells avoids filling the book with statistical tables and types of data.  Instead, he has placed links to access such information, such as assessments of political and economic trust, trust in governments, voting intentions, and other items as supporting data on the website of publications of his works, and the website address is at the end of the book to make reading the book easy and fluent for the audience. In general, the Rupture can be seen as an answer to the need to shorten the distance between grand theory and citizens, especially citizens who need to participate in the political consequences of the network society.
